Ger
Ger received his initial training in psychotherapy at the Minster Centre, London, England in the early 1980’s where he was trained in Integrative psychotherapy, specialising in an integration of psychodynamic, gestalt and body orientated approaches to practice. This training built on his previous career in social work and the mental health field. Subsequently he received his masters degree in U.C.D. in psychotherapy. He holds the European Certificate in psychotherapy and is an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor.
He has worked in the field of psychotherapy for almost 20 years. He is a founder member of both the Irish Council for Psychotherapy and the Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapy, as well as the journal Inside Out. He has also served on the editorial board of several international psychotherapy journals and has published numerous articles.
His particular interest in the field is in integrating perspectives on the mind and body, and he teaches specifically on body psychotherapy as well as studying yoga and other traditions to explore their links to psychotherapy. He also works extensively in the corporate area where he applies psychotherapeutic insights to coaching and organisational life. He works as a trainer, supervisor, consultant to training programmes and organisations, and business coach as well as maintaining a small psychotherapy practice.

Colm has been working in psychotherapy and counselling since the 1970’s. He trained in Ireland and the United States, at the Menninger Foundation in Kansas. Having worked in Corrymeela, a Centre for Reconciliation in Northern Ireland, and then as Director of Dundalk Counselling Centre, he moved to the Institute of Creative Counselling and Psychotherapy in 1996.
There he became Director of Psychotherapy and currently holds the post of Director of Training. As well as maintaining his own psychotherapy and supervisory practice at the Institute, he enjoys his very full commitment to their training programmes. He also offers training courses and supervision to groups outside the Institute, including those in the voluntary sector.
In his psychotherapy practice Colm has a particular interest in the early, difficult and painful experiences that occur in both family and other significant relationships and which he sees as inhibiting people’s development.
He works with his clients at both facing into and integrating such experiences, thus enabling them to develop their own capacities and live fuller and more mature adult lives. Colm takes an integrative psychotherapeutic approach in his work which he offers to both individuals and couples.
He is an accredited member of and supervisor with The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, The Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and holds The European Certificate in Psychotherapy.
